CTC vs In-Hand Salary: Kya Fark Hai?
Cost to Company (CTC) is the total amount an employer spends on an employee in a year. However, the amount you actually receive in your bank account every month is your "Take-Home" or "In-Hand" salary. The difference between the two is due to various deductions like Provident Fund (PF), Professional Tax (PT), and Income Tax (TDS).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Common queries about Indian payroll and salary structure.
Employer PF meri in-hand salary se kyu deduct hota hai?
Technically, Employer PF is not deducted from your gross salary. However, when HR tells you your CTC, they usually include both the Employee's share (12%) and the Employer's share (12%). Therefore, to calculate your gross, the Employer's share is removed first, and then your share is deducted to get the net pay.
Professional Tax (PT) kya hota hai?
Professional Tax is a small state-level tax levied on salaried individuals. It varies from state to state but is capped at ₹2,500 per year. Usually, ₹200 is deducted every month, and ₹300 in the last month (February). States like Delhi and Haryana do not have PT.
Kya main apna PF contribution ₹1,800 par fix kar sakta hu?
Yes! As per EPFO rules, if your Basic Salary + DA is above ₹15,000 per month, you and your employer have the option to restrict the PF contribution to 12% of ₹15,000 (which is ₹1,800). This increases your monthly take-home salary.
TDS kab aur kitna katta hai?
Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) is deducted by your employer if your annual estimated income crosses the tax-free limit (₹7 Lakhs under the New Regime). The total tax for the year is calculated, divided by 12, and deducted evenly every month.
Variable pay har mahine milta hai ya saal me ek baar?
Variable pay or Performance Bonus is usually paid annually or half-yearly based on your and the company's performance. It is NOT part of your fixed monthly take-home salary, which is why this calculator separates it.
Kya overtime aur night shift allowance take-home me judta hai?
Haan, ye saare allowances aapke "Gross Salary" ka part hote hain aur in par income tax slab ke hisaab se tax lagta hai. Inhe joankar hi aapka final monthly in-hand banta hai.
Form 16 kya hai aur iski zaroorat kab padti hai?
Form 16 ek TDS certificate hai jo aapka employer aapko deta hai. Isme likha hota hai ki aapne saal bhar me kitni salary kamayi aur kitna tax bhara. ITR file karte waqt ye sabse zaroori document hota hai.
Salary me basic component kitna hona chahiye?
Ideal case me basic salary aapke CTC ka 40% se 50% honi chahiye. Agar basic bahut zyada hai toh tax zyada lagega, aur agar bahut kam hai toh PF aur Gratuity kam jama hogi.
